Exploring the Timeless Magic of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" in Unreal Engine

This 3D project is a creative interpretation of Gabriel García Márquez's iconic novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, brought to life using Unreal Engine 5.5. The focus of the work lies in the lighting design that conveys the ethereal and contrasting moods of two key scenes—one bathed in the warmth and vitality of daylight, and the other shrouded in the mystery and intimacy of night.

The project employs advanced dynamic lighting techniques, including real-time global illumination with lumen, megalights or volumetric fog, to replicate natural light behavior in both daytime and nighttime settings. The shadows and atmospheric effects are calibrated to enhance depth and mood, to try to represent the surreal environment of Macondo.
The textures were crafted using Substance Painter, while the models were developed in Blender and refined with ZBrush.
The most of the vegetation are assets of megascans.
